A Traditional Area
Joe Dawson – Funeral Director Moray Coast. Based in Buckie which is located on the Moray Firth coast not far from Elgin, about 1/2 way between Inverness and Aberdeen, we predominately provide our Funeral Director and Undertaker services to the coastal villages of Portgordon, Findochty, Portknockie and Cullen extending inland through the rural communities of Deskford, Drybridge, Clochan and Tynet. The area is very traditional coming from a fishing and farming background and Whilst we also regularly cover the surrounding towns of Portsoy, Fordyce, Keith, Fochabers, Garmouth and much further around, we have found that those looking for our services return and recommend us best for upholding those traditional values.
We are contacted by many families who have moved away but are in need of our services for a loved one who is still living in the area or quite often wanting to return to the area to find their final resting place, wishes may have been passed on and providing a service in a completely different way to what those making arrangements are used to can seem daunting especially when communicating by phone or other means. With experience of this you can rest assured that we will be taking care of everything for you while you travel to make your journey less painful.
Moving with the Times
Whilst a traditional funeral is still the most common service we provide, we have to move with the times, it is a sad fact that people die younger and that their funeral requirements will be completely different, even the older amongst us want something different. Our job is more for the living than the dead, it is up to us to work with those left behind, to create what in many ways turns into a celebration of someones life, this can vary from the simple provision of an environmentally friendly coffin, willow, cardboard or pine up to a different form of transport, be it a horse and carriage or a motor-cycle hearse.
